Scrap That Baby Blog Hop: Sweet Summertime

Welcome to the Scrap that Baby’s Sweet Summertime blog hop!

Thank you so much for hopping along on our first ever blog hop!

If you didn’t come from Jen M’s blog or you popped upon this blog and didn’t realize we were blog hopping, you need to go to Scrap That Baby and start the HOP! You will need to comment on ALL of the blogs to be eligible for the grand prizes listed on the main site. So many of our awesome designers are giving away a prize on their blogs as well. You will not want to miss out! There are MANY MANY chances to win!

Our theme for this blog hop is SWEET SUMMERTIME! The members of our design team will all be sharing fantastic summer projects, stories, tips or ideas for keeping cool and having fun in the summer with a baby along.

Here are a few ideas by Sara R:

Layout using my favorite shots from this year’s state fair experience.

Generally we spend most of the HOT days indoors…coloring, playing in the tub with colored water (ice cubes add to the fun!), etc. This summer we’ve spent quite a few days exploring our town. Thus far we’ve visited the zoo twice (they have a fabulous fountain near the entrance that helps to cool us off), an Irish Festival, the Ohio State Fair (gotta love the ice cream at the dairy barn!), and many parks. We’re also growing sunflowers for the first time…to teach our 3 year old about plants. He loves to water them!

Tips to enjoying summer with a babe: Spend lots of time in the shade with a sprinkler or sidewalk chalk and a bucket of water. Endless fun! Check out your local library for baby and toddler story times. Our library even has a summer reading program for the babies and preschoolers. How cool is that?!

Summer food we love: bean salad, fruit salad, homemade popsicles, and grilling every night.

GIVEAWAY: A surprise package including at least one Fiskars squeeze punch. Just leave a comment with your favorite summer recipe to be entered. I will draw the winner on August 25th.

********************************************************************************

Our blog hop runs from today, August 18th, until August 22nd . Invite your
friends to play for extra entries. You must comment on all the blogs for a chance at the main prize
The Scrap that Baby blog will be drawing for prizes on Wednesday August 25th!

The next stop on the blog hop is…….. Jenny!

Didn’t Move!

Okay…so life took over and I never got around to moving the blog. New baby is here, so I won’t have the time for a few months at least.

Bottom line? I’m not moving the blog! BUT, I will start posting more…lol.

Watch for a blog hop with Scrap That Baby!

Moving

This blog is moving! Not sure anyone out there even checks in…but just in case. :) I’m over my brief interest in WordPress and am moving back to Blogger. More on that later! Getting things transferred may take a day or two…

My World

New category for April over at Category Stories! Share your world with us and be sure to add it to the Flickr pool to entered for the Tally Scrapper prize!

*Be sure to check the messages in Flickr pool as well…hint, hint. ;)

Scrap That Baby

Have you seen this yet? Scrap That Baby is a new challenge blog dedicated to scrapping our babies. Come join us this month as we scrap “the day they were born”…there’s a prize involved!

Shamrock Tee

This tee is actually from last year, but as it still fits…he will be wearing it again this year! Can’t believe how much he looks like a boy now. Look at that baby face from a year ago!

This tee used to be a tutorial on the old Fiskars Crafts website. The site has since been taken down and replaced. I am told it will be a few weeks before all the old material will be posted at the new site. When it is, I’ll be sure to let you know who came up with this cutie design!

What a I remember: Used the Fiskars heart USX template to cut out the “petals” of the shamrock and cut the stem freehand. Add a button in the center and you’re done! Easy applique.

Cupcake Tees and Caterpillars

Geez. I stink at getting stuff posted in a timely manner! Seems midterms (for my husband) really threw this house for a loop. Other than the tees, the only crafty thing I did all week (+) was make bean bags in blue and yellow for the Cub Scouts. At least they were enjoyed! And now Christopher has a new “toy”. We’ll make it through this winter, yet!

Cupcake tees for my nieces were made using the Cupcakes & More USX template from Fiskars. I used them to stencil the shapes onto the fabric and then cut them out. Scissors are easier with fabric!

Okay…I lied. I did one other crafty thing…I made a felt Hungry Caterpillar for my son. He loves the huge stuffed version a the library and begs for one of his own every time we go. And we have had the book checked out for a LONG time. Need to buy one for his Easter basket. My version is small and simple. No pattern was made…just decided to wing it! Took less than 30 minutes and was finished in time for bed one evening. Hurray for quick!

Considering making all the food from the book for his Easter basket. We’ll see how much time I have this month!

*Disclosure: I received the cupcake template from a Lead Fiskateer as a gift. I am not paid to use their products or advertise for them.

“To My Valentine” Cookies

These are tradition in my family…each year we make these delicious, heart-shaped, oatmeal delights. So good you can’t eat less than 3 at a time! I promise.

The best part? That old heart cookie cutter that my grandmother and mother both had. Somehow I ended up with 2 of them…planning to save one for my future daughter…or son as the case may be! They’ll have to fight it out. :)

This year I decided pink frosting was a must…some years we don’t do frosting at all. Glad we did this time because the pink frosting and red sugar makes me smile. Want the recipe? I’d be more than happy to share!

Stuff

It’s a boy! Just found out yesterday that we are expecting another boy. So happy!

Between the snow (nearly 8 inches on the ground and it’s still coming) and a sick pre-schooler, I have not been able to get a single crafty thing finished. Hoping today gives me a little time. I had such grand plans!

Lots of sewing to get done as I desperately need to get a few packages to the post office…including those cupcake tees I promised to share. Vowing to give them a good shot today!

In light of the fact that we are expecting our 2nd boy, I want to share a link to Celebrate the Boy: a month’s worth of sewing for boys. How cool is that?! Great timing…that’s all I have to say. Made by Rae and a few of her bloggy/crafty friends (and sister) are sharing an entire month’s worth of BOY stuff. Scroll down (on her site) to see all the previous tutorials, posts, and links to more cool boy projects.

*You would think that being snowed-in would mean more time to craft, right? Not so. It means more time to “say no” to sledding when you have a fever and cough. :)
